"It's a Great, Flexible Environment." | Comma Culture Series with Mary Clark

The Comma Copywriters team believes in learning from others to improve our writing and editing skills. That’s what Mary Clark Navarro found when she joined Comma’s community.

After writing for 11 years at various agencies, Comma was the first place where she found personal and professional development opportunities. She was also happy to learn about the company’s commitment to teamwork and believes the team aspect makes her not only a better writer, but also a better marketer, too.

Between her full-time job and graduate school work, Comma’s flexible and encouraging environment gives Mary Clark the balance she was looking for as a writer.

I joined Comma because I wanted to be part of a community of writers and editors. I've done contract and business writing for about 11 years now. This is the first agency that I've ever been a part of that has a lot of professional and personal development opportunities and really focuses on teamwork and that's important to me. So, working for Comma day-to-day is really fun. It's a great flexible environment and we work with a variety of industries, everything from AI to education, and science. We get the chance to learn and research a lot while working on our writing skills. Everything we write is reviewed by two pairs of eyes, so that's helped me a lot as well from an editing perspective.

At Comma, one of the things we do is write content worth reading. Everything we write is well-researched. We don't produce fluff content, so I think we make our client's lives easier in that way that everything we write and produce brings value to the reader. When we deliver the content, it's in a very professional state. It's been reviewed by two people, so by the time they get it, it's something that they can really access and use in their marketing materials.

Being a part of Comma makes me feel happy. I just love the team aspect, I love the community, and I think it makes me a much better writer and marketer. Comma fits into my lifestyle first of all because I love to write, edit, and research. But also I work full time, and I'm in grad school so I'm able to take on deadlines and projects that work for me, that work for my interests, and just work on them as I'm available and can meet their specific deadlines.
